Day 3 - Cuervo de Seville

An early rise today, around 5AM. Lots of discussion of our departure but I had to concede I was not up to a hard 27km walk. I felt I would not be able to do the distance and we would be in the midst of fields away from any village or taxi. My body feels similar to what I remember it was after a really demanding football game, tired and bruised knee and elbow, original pain in right leg and feeling effects of what I believe was sun exposure. In short, I sooked.

So we enjoyed a leisurely day. Strolled up to the main square and found a nice place for breakfast, toast, coffee and orange juice (9E for two). Experienced the loudest woman in history showing huge intention to dominate a six lady discussion with volume alone. She was a champion.

Bought some head lamps o allow an early start tomorrow. No dawn here until after 8AM. Lamps seem to work well and were only 3E each.

Back to the room and I rested while Jenny strolled the town looking at all the preparation for the religious festival and easter week celebrations.

Then a taxi to our next accommodation in Cuervo, a pretty town, quite small and country feeling. Disproportionate number of motor vehicles.

Looked around town and found our exit for tomorrow and were pleased to have done so as the Camino takes a quick turn across a busy highway before heading down a insignificant country lane. In the dark we could easily have missed that. Found a supermarket and bought salads and yoghurt for lunch, that we took back to our room.

For dinner we didn’t want to wait for the traditional starting time of 8:30pm so went to a nearby bar for a drink and their bar snacks of olive and some other vegetable which looked like giant corn colonel’s shaped like giant front teeth. (Jenny just said lima beans.) Tasted nice enough. Enquired which door to exit through in the morning for our planned 5am start and we were strictly told we cannot leave before 7am as the hotel is securely locked until then with locked doors and security bars. Not happy, but it is what it is. Sorry to be missing a couple hours of cool weather to walk in. It will be a hot day again tomorrow. Relief likely Sunday when rain is predicted. Body feeling massively improved tonight. I took the meds the doctor prescribed in Valencia. Interesting, their paracetamol comes in a blister pack and the tablet is about as tiny as you may expect for a micro chip to a cat. But it worked.

Big salute to Jenny who is nursing my aches, pains and blister, and massaging the sore bits. She is in perfect health and strength and being very supportive of me. I cannot fathom how such a petite lady copes so readily with the demands of our trek. She has a heavy pack and endures the same heat but never shows any slowing. Incredible.

Yep, it's the other leg this time! (Probably looks better here than how it feels.)

Our room - La Faraona

Brekkie liquids

Semana Santa festivities start today. Lots of little kiddies dressed in black in a procession

These two got distracted and had to run to catch up in the procession

A wise decision to taxi. The little girls in black have lots of make-up on. Interesting that you are locked in-hmmm.
